The Grassroots Anti-War Network

This note is stored for archival reasons only. The GROW network was put on ice in 2004.

The aim of the Grassroots Anti-War Network is to create a network of local anti-war groups to help them to communicate directly with one another, share ideas, information and campaigning materials and to foster democratic decision-making in the development of local and national campaigning strategies. Now is the time to consolidate, re-build and strengthen our groups. We need good, solid information; direct and forceful campaigns and clear, usable campaign materials.

The Network is open to any group or individual who supports its working principles: that the Network is non-hierarchical, co-operative and exists to campaign against the 'War on Terrorism'. More information on the Network, its working principles and 'points of Common Ground' will be available on this site in the next few days.

The Network is to be renamed and re-launched as an independent, autonomous organisation at the Grassroots Anti-War Conference.

ANTI-WAR MARCH 27 SEPTEMBER
Organised by Stop The War, CND & Muslim Association of Britain
12 noon Central London

ANTI-WAR CONFERENCE 26-28 SEPTEMBER
Organised by Justice Not Vengeance & the Grassroots Network
Conway Hall, Red Lion Square, Central London WC1

MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR WEEKEND!
We all found the anti-war march on 15th February an amazing
experience, but it didn't stop the war from happening. Activists
all over the country have been doing some hard thinking:
marching isn't enough - what can we do to prevent the next war?
It's time to come together to share our ideas and build on them.
JNV (Justice Not Vengeance, a new anti-war group founded
by ARROW members David Polden and Milan Rai) is helping to
organize a "grassroots" conference for anti-war activists to
discuss, debate, and share skills, experience and ideas.
At the Conference, you will have a chance to network with
other individuals and groups to:

Publicise your actions, and find other groups in your region
Find people who are willing to share specific skills
Build creative ideas into national initiatives
Discuss where the anti-war movement is now,
what the US and Britain might do next,
and what actions we can take to pre-empt them - permanently.

Above all, remember this is your event. JNV and the Grassroots
Network
are dedicated to bringing together anti-war groups and
individuals from around the country, and helping them to break
down barriers and build a community of activists.

SPEAKER FROM US GRASSROOTS ANTI-WAR NETWORK
The National Network to End the War Against Iraq, a grassroots
peace network, is sending a speaker over to share their ideas,
experiences and perspectives.
An amazing opportunity to hear from the heart of the US
anti-war movement. NNEWAI website: <www.endthewar.org>
