IRAQ: US-UK OUT - UN IN

JNV has long called for US-UK withdrawal from Iraq, to be followed by a UN replacement force, free from US-UK control. Juan Cole, perhaps the world’s most respected commentator on Iraq, recently put out a similar proposal: 'In an ideal world, the United States would relinquish Iraq to a United Nations military command...' VIGILS FOR LONDON

Some reflections on the role of the anti-war movement, and a call for silent vigils.

JNV and Voices in the Wilderness UK are calling on anti-war groups to hold silent vigils of solidarity outside local mosques and Muslim community organizations on a Friday, between 1pm and 2pm (the largest prayers of the week). Here is a draft leaflet (pdf) (html).

Peace vigils have been held by anti-war groups in solidarity with the victims of the London attacks, and with all the victims of violence during the "war on terror", in Bath, Brighton, Bristol, Chesterfield, Chicago, Dundee, Guildford, Hastings, London, at Molesworth NATO base, in Morpeth, Rotherfield, and elsewhere.

Resources Here are a leaflet summarising our suggestions for action, and a leaflet to use on silent vigils over the next few days (second version here).
